Divisional Department:

 

The Transaction Legal Fixed Income (“TL FID”) section in Transaction Legal is responsible for the provision of legal advice and assistance with transaction execution across all aspects of the Fixed Income division in London including FX, Rates, Commodities, Structured Credit, ABS, Alternative Solutions, Insurance Solutions, Strategic Transactions Groups and the Fund Solutions Group businesses.  TL FID assists the businesses with the structuring and execution of their transactions and advises the businesses how to ensure that their activites comply with all Nomura’s policy, legislative and regulatory requirements. It also works with senior management to ensure that legal risk and execution risk is minimised in all activities undertaken and works with other risk areas to assist with the mitigation of credit and market risk in any such transactions. The TL FID group covers a broad variety of structured and vanilla transaction types including derivative transactions (swaps, options etc.) and securities transactions (repackagings, MTNs etc.).

 

Experience/skills:

 

·         To work within the TL FID team assisting the relevant Fixed Income businesses.

·         Work as a strategic partner with the business areas, maintaining relationships through mutual trust and respect without compromising independence

·         To work with the other internal risk and control functions (compliance, credit risk, market risk, treasury and finance) in order to assist in the overall management of the firm’s risk

·         To ensure, as part of the TL FID team, that adequate process and controls are in place and that:

o   Relevant, timely and accurate legal advice is provided across the fixed income businesses

o   Documentation is in line with market best practice

o   Recommendations are embedded and owned by the business

·         To provide specialist technical legal guidance on TL FID tranasactions

To ensure the Nomura group is aware of its legal and other risks on fixed income transactions

 

Functional expertise: relevant work experience:

Qualified Lawyer with experience in, and detailed knowledge of fixed income derivatives and securities transactions.
