Description

This is an associate role in the Strategy Team of Nomura EMEA

 

Responsibilities of the Strategy Team

-       Strategy and business development projects across the EMEA region

-       Coordination of cross-divisional strategy across each of the three divisions - Fixed Income, Equities, IBD e.g. medium- and long term strategy, country expansion, cross-divisional client initiatives, acquisition opportunities

-       Working with Finance, longer term financial planning for the Nomura EMEA franchise, including investment plans, capital allocation and resource planning

-       Performing business deep dives and business diagnostics work, and deriving appropriate recommendations

-       Responsibility for the origination, screening and execution of acquisitions, JVs, stakes together with business partners

-       Identifying and understanding industry trends and growth opportunities

-       Formulating Nomura's response to the changing regulatory environment, partnering with the Heads of Corporate functions

-       Key member of the global strategy management team, contributing to the executive agenda of the wholesale bank

-       Strategy support for the executive management team in the region

 

 

 

Team Structure

-       The team will consist of 7 staff at varying levels, working closely with the global and divisional strategy teams

 

Roles and Responsibilities

-       Support major strategy assignments for Nomura EMEA, developing analysis and proposals in support of the longer term development of the business

-       Partner with the global team to develop a coordinated global strategy across each of the regions and global businesses (Rates, Credit, FX, Commodities)

-       Work with businesses to advance the longer term strategy of the business in the EMEA region and globally

-       Support senior management in board level presentations and offsites

-       Liaise with other internal stakeholders, including Divisional and Global Strategy

 

 

Requirements

-       Experience in a strategy role, either in a consulting firm or a strategy / business planning in a financial institution

-       Basic understanding of Investment Banking

-       Analytical skills, including ability to develop financial models and perform data analysis

-       Strong communications skills – ability to interact confidently with trading, sales and research professionals in a trading floor environment
