Role / Principal Accountabilities:

The front office static data system provides a highly flexible and low-latency static data solution to a large number of applications within Execution Services. 

The role requires an excellent technologist with experience in Java server development to be responsible for both tactical and strategic enhancements to the system testing and verifying that any changes meet the functional requirements.  This will include performing third-line production support when required and co-ordinating any development that is to be performed by the off-shore team.

The candidate will also be expected to interface with users and key stakeholders (typically front-office desk personnel, business aligned IT groups or the corporate static data team) to analyse, define and agree enhancements.

Skills & Experience Required:

.           Core multi-threaded Java design and development - full lifecycle experience on multiple developments. 

.           JMS

.           Sybase/SQL

.           UNIX & Scripting language (e.g. Perl, Ruby)

.           XML

.           Distributed middleware technology e.g. TIBCO/RV

.           Source-control tools (preferably CVS/SVN)

.           Familiarity with performance, latency, throughput concepts etc.

.           Strong development methodology including documentation and release management

.           Clear communication and the ability to build strong relationships with technologists and business users

.           Initiative to drive change and 'make things happen' by contacting other groups, thinking of and following up new ideas etc.

.           Ability to work under pressure

 

Desirable experience:

 

.           Spring

.           Knowledge of object-relational mapping tools e.g. Hibernate

.           Practical experience working on static-data projects leading to an understanding of data-model concepts (entities, attributes, relationships, etc).  Understanding of key reference data concepts e.g. exchanges, segments, instruments, listings etc.

.           Preferably worked in the financial industry (e.g. for an Investment Bank, Asset Manager, Exchange, Broker, Data Vendor, etc) 

.           Worked as part of an multi-regional team (e.g. within or with off-shore, near-shore, or remote teams)

.           Practical experience of Production Support or multi-tasking with numerous development requests

.           Practical experience of stakeholder/user relationship management

.           JIRA

.           Team player

.           Strong work discipline - resilient and eager to be challenged.
