Portfolio
Business Group overview:
The
Portfolio Business Group (“PBG”) is a team of 20, with offices based in London
and New York. PBG manages approx $5bn of assets, spread across a diverse set
of investments with a Fixed Income – Credit focus. Assets managed include
corporate and sovereign debt, CMBS, distressed debt/equity, loans, insurance
claims. The group’s investment strategies are geographically diverse, including
developed and emerging markets. The group utilises the full range of financial products.
PBG
is run by three senior finance professionals, with an average of 17 years
experience in trading, and asset investment/management. The PBG team
individuals generally have a long tenure (average of 6 yrs), and all have
outstanding track records both academically and professionally. We are

ideal candidate will have the following skills

Proven

Relevant
job experience in front office trading environment or in middle office with
front office focus
Formal
qualifications in their area of expertise (academic, professional, or otherwise)
Finance,
economic, or accounting qualifications, high level grades

Good
communicator, who works easily with other groups
Technically
proficient in IT
Good
maths skills
The
Role will include (but not be limited to) all of the tasks below:

Working
with the traders, product control, settlements and risk management on a daily
basis
·
Risk
mitigation of potential trade, settlement, operational, legal and other related
issues.
·
Responsible
for P&L processing, including reporting and reconciliation – both daily and
working with the PBG Principals monthly
·
Responsible
for ensuring that PBG’s approach to trade booking & systems achieves key
objectives and integrates with all supporting areas.
·
Setting
up control procedures for non-standard complex trades that have additional
risks which fall out of the normal procedures.
·
Involvement
in the production, development and maintenance of all of PBG’s reports.
·
Active
involvement in the development of PBG systems e.g .trading
systems, booking systems, risk monitoring systems.

Responsible
for the Operations Risk area in relation to all of PBG’s policies and
procedures with the aim of minimising risk.
·
Coordination
of the operational risk issues and procedures.
·
Regular
communication of PBG’s operational risk status to the PBG Principals.
·
·
Working
directly with the PBG Principals – trade analysis utilising historical database
information; investment committee reporting; analysis focussing on portfolio
detail, performance ratios, and trade examples.
·
Forming
a part of the relevant PBG committees (Op Risk, Legal Risks, Transactions Risks
etc)
·
Utilising
PBG’s technical and database platform
·
Raising
operational risk events related to booking and P&L issues and reporting
these to the PBG Principals in a timely manner.
·
Ensuring
relevant trade documentation is captured and reconciled.
·
Event
monitoring.
·
Reviewing
bookings against agreed New Product Approval caveats.
·
Reconciliation
of trade bookings to documentation.
·
Reconciliation
of trade modifications to documentation.
·
Review
long term forward valued trades.
·
Responsibility
for managing and booking non-standard complex trades.
·
Reconciliation
of desk P&L against Management reporting systems.
·
Preparation
of various notices with regards to complex transactions.
·
Monitoring
of distressed credit events and maintenance of responsibilities on DOS.
·
Developing
policies and procedures for the efficient operation of the transactions
management of PBG
